I started The Black Wall Street Times, a new media company, with the hope that it will serve as a crucial addition to traditional news outlets by elevating stories directly impacting our community.
Hegemony controls most of the media, which causes the issues that impact marginalized communities to be chronically underreported and presents an imbalanced image of minorities in mass media.
We fight to document and highlight minority reporting and stories that are too often overshadowed by the continuing power of America’s hegemonic media.
Our goal is to inspire a digital renaissance of the original Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma by focusing on issues that promote the betterment of our community and elevate minority issues within society at large. Many of the staff, writers, and editors at the Times stand on the shoulders of the giants from the peak of the Black Wall Street era.
