“Tulsa will always be home for me and the black community still bears the scars of the devastating race riots of 1921,” said Ellison. “Our goal is to create spaces of vulnerability and archive the stories of black men who talk about the masks we wear each day.”

This month, Silhouette Sneakers & Art brought multiple sneaker-cultural experts to Tulsa for an exclusive event and panel discussion for citizens who are seemingly married to their footwear. The atmosphere was laden with sneakers and of art from local artists Alexander Tamahn, Rebekah Campbell McIlwain, and No Parking Studios.
