With the Civil War not officially ending until 1865 and in the midst of chaos and confusion, an African-American newspaper managed to establish itself in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana.
A thunderous boo during the National Anthem at Cowboy stadium in Arlington, TX reminded us of the Colosseum. 80% of the players are black and the majority of the crowed white demanding the players just play football and publicly disapproving their first amendment rights.
What’s even sadder is the church. The Christian church never seems to confront issues of race. This alt-right ideology for some reason believes nothing is wrong? How can you not see this? By taking a knee at this year’s Booker T. Washington Homecoming game during the National Anthem, we are protesting all oppressive forces that seek to silence those that are brave enough to take a stand and voice their opposition to racial injustice wherever it is found.
Anna America spoke up for herself and colleagues who were called racist. A lecture began on the severity of Nazis and Klansman. Citizens were told that when things don’t go our way that we assume the worse and call others racist. That was the most belittling thing I have ever heard them say. The citizens that spoke were intelligent, provoked thought and explained their grievances appropriately.
