WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is speaking out after a white supremacist entered her Washington office and issued racist threats and hand gestures, prompting an emergency response from Capitol Police.

In a public statement shared on social media, Crockett confirmed that her staff is safe and thanked Capitol Police for acting swiftly. But she also made clear that the incident reflects a growing and dangerous pattern.

“Let me be crystal clear: this cannot become the norm,” Crockett wrote.

The Texas congresswoman warned that today’s political climate, marked by hostility, intimidation, and dehumanizing rhetoric, is not accidental. She directly pointed to the President, saying that political violence is being “fueled from the very top.”

“When the President of United States spreads hate and lies, when he targets his political opponents, when he openly calls for the death of sitting Members of Congress, he is putting a literal target on our backs,” Crockett said. “The President should be committed to unity, not more division.”

Crockett acknowledged that some have questioned why she and other lawmakers require security. She said the answer is as visible as the threats that follow each time she stands up for her district and speaks against corruption.

“Every time I speak truth, stand up for my constituents, or call out corruption, the threats get louder and more dangerous,” she wrote.

Despite the escalating hostility, Crockett emphasized that she will not be deterred.

“I will not be intimidated. I will not be silenced,” she said. “I will continue to show up for the people of Texas’ 30th Congressional District.”

Crockett ended her message with a warning about where the nation stands: violent extremism doesn’t emerge in a vacuum; it follows leadership.

“When leaders promote hate, hate shows up, sometimes right at our door.”

The incident comes amid rising reports of threats against elected officials nationwide, particularly against Black leaders, women, and lawmakers who challenge white supremacy and far-right extremism.
