TULSA, Okla. โ It has been 28-years since the legendary musician Miles Davis crossed into the ancestral plane. Yet, even with his passing, Davisโ transformative and influential style in jazz music continues to vibrate the ether and is appreciated by millions of fans young and old around the world.
On Monday, November 4, 2019, in partnership with Duet Jazz, Circle Cinema will present the screening of โMiles Davis: Birth of the Cool.โ Showtime beings at 7 pm with a 6 pm reception in the cinemaโs gallery with live jazz and light bites. General Admission is $10, and for cinema members, itโs $8.
Davisโ music career spanned over 50-years. He was best known for playing the horn, his band leadership ability, and his musical innovation. Davis was a singular force of nature, the very embodiment of cool.
The central theme of Miles Davisโ life and of this film is Davisโ restless determination to break boundaries and live life on his own terms.
The documentary-feature explores archival photos and home movies shot of Davis and his colleagues, his manuscripts, and his original paintings โ to explore the man behind the music. โMiles Davis: Birth of the Coolโ features interviews with some of the most well-known musicians on the planet, including Jimmy Cobb, Lee Konitz, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, Carlos Santana, The Roots, and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, exploring why Davisโ artful message continues to be a relevant voice in todayโs world.
