PARIS, France — In the dazzling city of light, within the iconic Bercy Arena, the U.S. men’s gymnastics team ended a 16-year medal drought by clinching bronze at the Paris Olympics team finals. This historic achievement came after an intense competition against gymnastics powerhouses Japan, who secured gold with a score of 259.594, and China, who took silver with a 259.062.

The team, led by standout performances from athletes such as Frederick Richard and Brody Malone, showcased their hard work, strategic training, and unyielding spirit. The roaring support from fans, both in the arena and back home, added to the electric atmosphere, making this victory a memorable chapter in Olympic history.

Richard and Malone Highlight Team’s Focus and Execution Amidst Olympic Challenge

“It feels amazing. We had some highs and lows. Qualification wasn’t perfect,” Frederick Richard, the USA Gymnastics’ rising star, said in an interview with NBC.

After placing fifth in qualifying on Saturday, the U.S. men scored higher on 14 of 18 routines Monday night, notching the second-highest team scores on vault (44.032) and still rings (42.732) and the third-highest score on the horizontal bar (42.365).

“I had no doubt in this team, and it showed today. We came together when it mattered, and we did something great for our country,” Richard added.

The U.S. team comprised Asher Hong (Tomball, Texas), Paul Juda (Deerfield, Ill.), Brody Malone (Aragon, Ga.), Stephen Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass.), and Frederick Richard (Stoughton, Mass.).

Team veteran Brody Malone had this to say: “We just had to stay in our bubble and go one event at a time and not look at what anyone else was doing. That was our plan going into it, and we executed it flawlessly. We said, let’s treat this like an NCAA meet, and that’s exactly what we did, and it worked out.”
