Mother of Terence Crutcher sends two Grieving Mothers to the Trayvon Martin “Circle of Mothers” Retreat in Southern Florida the weekend before Mother’s Day.

TULSA, Okla. — In May of 2018, the mother of Trayvon Martin — Sybrina Fulton invited  Leanna Crutcher, the mother of Terence Crutcher, to her “Circle of Mothers” retreat in South Florida.

Trayvon Martin and Terence Crutcher were both shot by police officers while unarmed.

After losing her son Trayvon, Sybrina decided to bring mothers who had lost their children to senseless gun violence and police brutality together for a positive purpose.

She created the Circle of Mothers’ Retreat.

The retreat allows mothers to develop a sisterhood of support by taking part in a healing and nurturing space.

After visiting last year’s retreat, Mrs. Crutcher said she was inspired, and this year, she’s paying it forward.

She’s sponsoring two Oklahoma mothers, who’ve, also, lost their sons to police brutality, and she plans to each year through her new initiative called “A Mother’s Love”.

Mrs. Etta Barre, the mother of Joshua Barre — who was killed in June of 2017, and Mrs. Roma Presley, mother of Joshua Harvey — who was killed in August of 2018, are the two mothers that Mrs. Crutcher will send to this year’s retreat.

“I want these mothers to know that they are not alone and that we must support each other as we all approach Mother’s Day without our sons,” said Leanna Crutcher.

This year’s Circle of Mothers’ retreat will be held May 3 – 5, 2019, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Terence Crutcher Foundation will also sponsor Mrs. Barre’s and Mrs. Presley’s travel expenses.

As the Crutcher Foundation continues to evolve, it is Mrs. Crutcher’s goal to increase the number of mothers she sponsors to attend this much-needed retreat annually.
