TULSA, Okla. — Tri-City Collective, Public Radio Tulsa and Tulsa Artist Fellowship will hold a press conference to announce the launch date for Focus: Black Oklahoma, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at 10 a.m. in the Tulsa Artist Fellowship –Archer Studios lobby, located at 109 North M.L.K. Jr Blvd East, Tulsa, OK 74103.
In the spirit of the remarkable people who founded Black Wall Street in the face of Jim Crow and on the eve of the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre which turned their prosperity into rubble, Tri-City Collective, in partnership with Public Radio Tulsa, Tulsa Artist Fellowship and the Tulsa Community Foundation is proud to introduce Focus: Black Oklahoma, a historic and timely new public radio show. Focus: Black Oklahoma is a one-hour news and public affairs program on various topics relevant to Oklahomans across the Black diaspora that will air on Public Radio Tulsa monthly beginning in February 2020.
Focus: Black Oklahoma features a spotlight interview supported by taped stories on current topics and events affecting Black Oklahomans, including news, politics, current affairs, education, family, health, relationships, law, finances, business, arts and culture, spirituality, technology, sports and more. Special segments include “Youth Voice”, an on-air platform for school-aged young people; “Spiritual Spotlight”, highlighting social justice and community programs produced by houses of worship in all faiths throughout Oklahoma; and “Creative
Spotlight”, Oklahoma talent sharing original songs, stories and more. Arielle Davis and Kolby Webster serve as co-hosts of the program. The executive producers of Focus: Black Oklahoma are Quraysh Ali Lansana, Tulsa Artist Fellow/ Tri-City Collective and Scott Gregory, Public Radio Tulsa.
