Tulsa, Okla.—The Black Wall Street Legacy Festival (Legacy Fest) will continue the series of events to commemorate the centennial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre by hosting the premiere of a thought-provoking and timely documentary entitled “Fruit.” 

The documentary will premiere on Friday, June 11th, 2021 at 6:00 pm.m CST at 36th Street North Event Center, located at 1125 E. 36th St N, Tulsa, OK 74106.

Hosted by Terence Crutcher Foundation, 100 Black Men, 36th Street Event Center, The Black Wall Street Times, and the Black Wall Street Legacy Festival, the screening of “Fruit” will be in honor of Keith Miller. Based on the book “Fruit,” by co-authors Ricardo Bates and Anthony Brock, Head of School at Valiant Cross Academy, the film shows how the power of mentoring can shift the narrative of a young Black man even in the face of unfavorable circumstances.

Panel Discussion following film

Immediately following the premiere, Director, Ricardo Bates and Executive Producer, Anthony Brock will lead a panel to discuss these issues.

“It is an honor to show the documentary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a city with so much history and where people are truly pouring into the lives of young people on a daily basis,” said Ricardo Bates, Director.

“This film is amplifying the conversation about the power of mentoring by highlighting facts and voices that inspire broadly to identify challenges, create opportunities and drive change,” Executive Producer Anthony Brock added.

Hosted by survivors and descendants of the Tulsa Race Massacre and helmed by organizations based in the affected community, the Black Wall Street Legacy Festival seeks to elevate and amplify the hard work and voices of Black Tulsans over the last 100 years by offering opportunities to reflect, learn, and inspire through community-curated experiences.
