ATLANTA – Dr. Kevin James, the 19th president of Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia has had his contract extended through June 2025. Dr. James has led Morris Brown since March 2019.
Reginald Jackson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Bishop of the 6th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church said, “We’ve made tremendous progress within the past two years under Dr. Kevin James’ leadership. We are elated about accreditation candidacy and making history. Dr. James led Morris Brown College to become the first HBCU to accreditation candidacy status after a 20-year hiatus.”
“Moreover, Dr. James has hosted some of the most successful fundraising events in the past 20 years. Overall, giving is up and the momentum under this administration is like none we have seen in recent history,” Jackson added.

The accreditation candidacy comes on the heels of a rewarding partnership led by Dr. James between CGI Merchant Group, LLC, and Hilton Hotel. It will make a $30 million investment in MBC to convert existing facilities into a 150-key upscale Hilton hotel and hospitality management training complex.
“Moreover, Dr. James led an outstanding partnership agreement with Chick-fil-A, which will place our hospitality program in position to lead,” Jackson said.
