Lebron’s James’ I PROMISE School is preparing students for the chaotic world of crypto.
According to Boardroom, The LeBron James Family Foundation agreed to a multi-year deal with Crypto.com — the Lakers naming sponsor — to develop a curriculum for the LeBron-founded I PROMISE School in Akron, Ohio.
I PROMISE prepares students for tomorrow
According to I PROMISE School, they remain “dedicated to those students who are already falling behind and in danger of falling through the cracks.” With lesson plans about cryptocurrency, Web3, and jobs in and around the world of blockchain technology, those students will be well-prepared to confidently enter the tech world.
Founded in 2018, The I PROMISE program provides year-round resources, access to opportunities, supportive skill development and other wraparound supports.
With over 1,300 Akron students guaranteed to college scholarships if they do their part, I PROMISE stands by its methods.
According to Pew Research, Black workers account for just 5% of engineers and architects and 7% of workers in computer occupations. How Sway?! Though measurable outcomes will take time, James is ensuring the pool of future qualified candidates represent America at large.
Lebron James has made it a point throughout his career to not only give back – but to empower. Utilizing education, philanthropy, and charitable works, he’s created a sustainable ecosystem that reflects his values.

By offering classes that students may not have access to otherwise, it also opens a door that’s traditionally been shut.
James uses his talents for the community’s wellbeing so they can succeed in their individual interests. “I’m still learning as everything keeps evolving, and now with Crypto.com, I want to make sure my kids and families are part of that as well,” said James.
As a basketball savant and assist magician, James is known for putting his teammates in the best position to score. Now that he’s passing the Crypto ball to his students, they’ll be able to thrive in tomorrow’s economy and workforce.
