The “Bayou Barbie” is no longer just Angel Reese’s nickname. She is now the latest WNBA player to have her own Barbie.

On Friday, July 24, the Atlanta Dream forward posted a carousel of images to her Instagram, introducing fans to her new doll.

“This Barbie Knows Ball,” she captioned the images featuring her showing off the doll. Her mini-me is dressed in an all-pink version of Reese’s Atlanta Dream uniform, including the No. 5 jersey and her signature leg sleeve. The doll also sports a pink headband and a pair of her signature Reeboks, the Angel Reese 1 in the new “Barbie” colorway, which is set to release on August 3.

A Barbie Dream Turned Reality

“Having my own Barbie doll is a true dream come true for me. It’s such an incredible honor because it’s about showing girls that there are no limits to what they can achieve,” Reese said in the press release connected to the launch.

She continued. “I’ve never let anyone else define what’s possible for me, and every challenge I’ve faced has only made me stronger. I hope this doll reminds girls to be unapologetically themselves, embrace every part of who they are, and go after their dreams with confidence.”

Nathan Baynard, Vice President and Head of Barbie at Mattel, said: “Barbie honors role models who inspire girls to imagine what’s possible. From her on-court achievements and entrepreneurial leadership to her tireless advocacy for girls, Angel Reese is helping children see that confidence, ambition, and resilience can open countless doors. We’re proud to honor her through our Barbie Signature doll and collaboration with Reebok, giving fans new ways to celebrate Angel and all she represents.”

From ‘Bayou Barbie’ To Cultural Icon

Reese gained the moniker “Bayou Barbie” during her college years at Louisiana State University, and it followed her to the Chicago Sky. The 24-year-old was later dubbed the “Chi Barbie” during her rookie season in 2024.

Now in her third professional season, Reese continues to expand her impact beyond basketball, blending sports, fashion and culture in ways that resonate far beyond the court.

All-Star Weekend Release

The doll’s debut arrives as Reese heads into the 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago. She earned her third consecutive All-Star selection after a standout season, averaging a career-high 15.4 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average ranks second in the league, while helping Atlanta post a 16-10 record in her first season with the Dream.

Reese celebrated the launch with a collaboration event alongside women’s sports media company TOGETHXR. The brand hosted the Angel Reese Dream Closet inside its branded house, creating an immersive pop-up experience for fans.

The activation allowed visitors to step inside a life-size Barbie box, preview the upcoming Reebok collaboration and browse a limited apparel capsule that includes a custom jersey and Barbie x Angel Reese T-shirts and headwear.

Joining The Greats

Reese joins Hall of Famers Sue Bird and Rebecca Lobo as WNBA players to be immortalized in doll form. Earning the honor in just her third professional season underscores the impact she has made on the league since being drafted in 2024.
