The inextricable relationship between the well-being of our team and the success of our students has never been more clear than it is today. The district’s Summer Academy will run from June 22-July 17 with distance learning for 3rd-grade students eligible under the Reading Sufficiency Act and for students in grades 9-11 who need to recover credits to stay on track to graduate with their peers.
Now as the new virus upends life across the nation, officials are reconsidering remote learning as the probability of closing schools beyond April 6 looms.
“Proficiency rates for Greenwood in Math and Reading are actually exceeding all of the comparable elementary schools in the district,” TPS’s Chief Innovation Officer Andrea Castañeda said.
Low enrollment and inadequate educational funding for the state have made running Oklahoma’s second-largest school district much difficult than previous decades.
Configuring 6th-grade students at majority Black TPS attending schools shouldn’t be up for discussion.
