The head of coronavirus response at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center said Friday that an increase in the number of younger Oklahoma residents dying as a result of the virus has become a worry.

The number of actual infections is thought to be far higher because many people haven’t been tested and studies suggest people can be infected without showing symptoms.
-
The spread of the virus is largely blamed for the state’s ecomomic downturn and an estimated $416 million budget hole as non-essential businesses have closed and energy prices have slumped. Stitt said Tuesday an additional $40 million will be needed to shore up a separate fund for public schools.

Gov. Kevin Stitt said, “This is a personal responsibility, and I don’t believe that we can arrest people [who violate executive orders].” However, the Governor’s comment directly contradicts that of Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum.

There are now 429 confirmed cases in 44 of the state’s 77 counties and 16 deaths in seven separate counties, according to the health department.
