LUBBOCK, TX — The daycare worker, who was seen pulling a 3–year-old preschooler by the hair, was fired today along with her video recording accomplice — who could be heard laughing in the background.
LaQuitta Wilson, the preschooler’s mother, told a local news station that she wants justice.
“We just want justice. That’s my baby. And no child should be treated the way that she was treated. They had no apology,” she said. “They had no reason why they did not call me.”
Little Amyra can be seen innocently falling asleep at the breakfast table with her other preschool mates around her on a video that went viral video yesterday.
The adult preschool employee grabbed Amyra by the hair and yanked her head backward.
The other employee is heard laughing and even comments negatively about another preschooler looks.
The 3-year-old’s grandmother was only made aware of the social media video 20 minutes before she was scheduled to pick up her granddaughter from the My Little Playhouse Learning Center on 50th street in Lubbock, Texas.
“I was furious. My initial reaction was to come and snatch the [worker’s] head off her body… I’m standing here right now, feeling like I’m about to boil over,” the girl’s grandmother said.
The video went viral on social media on Thursday, sparking outrage across a nation that has recently seen an uptick in the physical abuse of Black females through social media, and 3-year-old Amyra is the latest victim.
The local authorities and the Texas Department of Childcare Licensing are currently investigating this terrible and unfortunate incident of child abuse.
