Tulsans must fight to prevent gun violence in Oklahoma. A new OK law going into effect November 1st allows people to carry a gun without any training or a permit. Our communities have so far avoided a crisis but this new law will be the tipping point. Tulsans have a chance to halt the loss of additional lives. We must rally together for all of Oklahoma and this is the last weekend.

It’s now or never for SQ803. If you are tired of watching children and adults die each week in the latest mass shooting, and tired of our politicians doing nothing to prevent the next one, YOU, can be a part of the effort to change that. Come sign the state question 803 petition to stop the bill our Oklahoma politicians passed to allow “permitless gun carry” in Oklahoma. This means every Oklahoman will get a chance to vote on the issue in 2020. We all know someone who has a bigger temper than they do common sense. Currently, that person must get a license and attend a training class on how to open or conceal carry, in a safe and responsible way. Permitless gun carry means anybody, including that person, can carry a gun open or concealed, without ANY training, and without ANY permit. This new law is going to get people, including our children hurt or killed.

Oklahoma is only one incident away from a Walmart or church or school shooting. Stop this law in its tracks by signing the petition this weekend. We have locations all over Tulsa where you can sign the petition this Saturday between 11 AM and 3 PM or visit Facebook search for Oklahoma Veto Referendum to find a location near you all over the state. The deadline is August 29th at 5PM – BUT you must sign the SQ803 petition this weekend to be sure your signature counts!

Stopping this law will not affect your current rights to carry. We do not want Oklahoma to turn into the wild west but this law and special interest groups will make it that way if it means they can make more money. We have to work just as hard to stop them. Our children, poor, rural, and communities of color are at risk. Make a plan, find a place to sign the petition, invite your friends and family to join you, and “do something” to protect the people you love. We cannot protect our loved ones all the time, but stopping this law will help protect them when we can’t be there to do it.
