Closing the curtain on a hyper-public seven-year marriage, Kim Kardashian-West has filed for divorce from rap mogul Kanye West. They certainly aren’t the first celebrity couple to call it quits during this pandemic.

This Is Us actress Susan Kelechi Watson and Blue Bloods actor Jaime Lincoln Smith split after a year-long engagement. Rapper Playboi Carti and girlfriend Iggy Azalea announced they were done just six months after the birth of their son, Onyx; followed by some online dragging. And of course, the marriage that has kept us all on our toes – Cardi B and Offset.

There has never been a shortage of media attention on KimYe, but West crossed into new territory when he announced his candidacy for President of the United States in the 2020 election cycle. There has been an incredible amount of speculation into the health and well-being of West and how this factored into his behavior leading up to and during his campaign. But the very public nature of their relationship forced a much-needed conversation on the levels of responsibility that exist when a public figure is experiencing a (sometimes prolonged) mental health crisis.

While everyone is going #TeamKim or #TeamYe, TheBWSTimes is just hoping that all parties involved are seeking therapy for the sake of themselves, their kids and (if Ye decides to run for office again) for America.

What are your thoughts? Is this split for the best? Do you think Ye will stay involved in politics?
