During a Friday night out near Philadelphia, a Golden Corral turned into a brawl. A stake shortage at the buffet is the alleged reason for the shuffle. A viral video shows diners punching and throwing chairs during the fight.

However, police are still investigating the cause of the altercation. They believe the brawl may have involved more than 40 people and followed an argument between some customers.

“I’ve never seen nothing like that in Golden Corral before,” former employee Dylan Becker. “From what I heard it was over steak, apparently somebody cut in line,” which may have sparked the fight.

“There was a shortage of steak and two parties were involved and one family cut in front of another family, they were taking their time and they ran out of steak and it got into a heated exchange at the tables,” Gaven Lauletta said.

“All I wanted was steak,” a man says in the video.

Golden Corral’s Statement

The Golden Corral franchisee released a statement saying: “Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported. The safety of our guests and co-workers is our top priority.”

People are sharing their disapproval of the customers’ behavior. “Disgusted that people would even do that in a public place when there’s children around,” a woman said.

Twitter also had something to say about the customers’ behavior. “Grown men throwing high chairs while women put themselves in harm’s way to stop them – very on-brand, America,” Michelle Newcome tweeted.

An investigation is underway to determine who started the fight.
