TV network Showtime has released the teaser trailer for ‘The First Lady’, a series starring Viola Davis as Michelle Obama. The premiere date is set for April 17.

Throughout history, America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies have made some of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions hidden from view in the East Wing of the White House.

The series peels back the curtain on the personal and political lives of three unique, enigmatic women and their families. Importantly, the film traces their journeys to and in the White House, highlighting their greatest moments.

Season one focuses on the inspiring lives of Michelle Obama, Betty Ford, and Eleanor Roosevelt.  Michelle Pfeiffer plays Betty Ford and Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt.

In the trailer, Davis portrays Michelle and says, “They wanna turn me into a Black Martha Stewart?” Meanwhile, O-T Fagbenle, who plays President Barack Obama, says, “I can’t have you back seat driving,” toward Michelle.

We’re sure actress Viola Davis is going to slay this role, playing Michelle. With two Tony Awards, an Academy Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award, Davis is a legend. Hence, her achievement makes her the first African-American to earn the “Triple Crown of Acting”.

Shadow and Act is raving that the first season will be so intriguing that ‘The First Lady’ promises to take the viewer “through interweaving storylines so intimate it’s as if the White House walls are talking.”

Let’s talk about Black power couples doing big things in Hollywood. The series includes Davis and her husband Julius Tennon as executive producers.

Later this year, “The Women King” starring Viola Davis will also release.
