Taraja Ramsess, who was a stuntman in various Marvel films, passed away on Oct. 31, 2023. He was 41. As fans, loved ones, and fellow entertainers shared touching tributes and condolences to the family, many people have questions about Ramsess’ cause of death.
What was Taraja Ramsess’ cause of death? The stuntman and his kids died in a car accident.
Fox 5 Atlanta reported that a tractor-trailer struck the stuntman while he was driving a Ford F-150 on the exit ramp of Interstate 285 to Interstate 20.
The crash also resulted in the deaths of three of Ramsess’ children: 13-year-old Sundari, 10-year-old Kisasi, and 8-week-old Fugibo. Following the traffic accident, only Taraja, Sundari, and Fugibo’s deaths were confirmed. However, the news of Kisasi’s passing soon followed.
The outlet shared that the accident is still under investigation.
Taraja’s GoFundMe has raised over 100K.
There is currently a GoFundMe for fans to support Taraja’s family with funeral expenses. The GoFundMe page has now raised over $110,000.
Most of Ramsess’ immediate family are taking time to mourn privately and have not shared their grievances publicly. As of writing, the only family member who has released a statement is Ramsess’ mom, photojournalist Akili Ramsess.
“All who knew and met him know how special Taraja was. He had a deep capacity for love and loved his children more than all,” the Ramsess matriarch shared online. “Thank you to so many people who have already reached out with kind words and prayers.”
Tony Tucci, Ramsess’ longtime friend, also shared his sentiments about the stuntman’s death.
“When I first heard about it, I broke down. I had to sit down,” Tucci told WSB-TV. “He was always a family man. They would come and sit and watch him train. And they would jump in and start training, too. He was just an amazing person.”
Tucci added: “We have a great loss to this world. It makes you reflect and gives you a new perspective on everyone you need to call every day.”

Ramsess is considered one of the most notable stuntmen in the industry, especially regarding his work on Marvel projects.
Ramsess received stuntman credits in the following MCU works: Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, Avengers: Endgame in 2019, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in 2022.
The 41-year-old was also a multi-hyphenate in the entertainment industry. Stunt work aside, the talent worked in construction, stage direction, and videography. In addition, Ramsess worked as a set dresser for several movies, including Barbershop: The Next Cut in 2016 and Tyler Perry‘s Madea’s Witness Protection in 2012.
