TULSA, Okla. — Award-winning journalist and health equity advocate Linda Villarosa is set to headline Greenwood Rising’s “Books for Thought” event on March 6 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tulsa Regional Chamber. The event, which is free and open to the public with registration required via Eventbrite, will explore the deep-rooted impact of racial disparities in healthcare.

Linda Villarosa, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, will discuss her critically acclaimed book, Under the Skin: The Hidden Toll of Racism on American Lives and the Health of Our Nation. Tulsa physician Dr. Jabraan Pasha will moderate the conversation. The discussion will give attendees an opportunity to engage in a critical dialogue. It will focus on the intersection of race, medicine, and systemic inequities.

““We’re thrilled to host Linda Villarosa for our ‘Books for Thought’ series,” said Dr. Raymond Doswell, executive director of Greenwood Rising. “Our hope is that these events spark dialogue and critical thought around race in our society, inspiring our community to keep learning and working toward a more just world.”

After her keynote address and discussion, Villarosa will participate in a book signing. Readers will have a chance to connect with the author. The New York Times named her book one of the 10 Best Books of 2022. It also received recognition from The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Time Magazine, Publishers Weekly, and NPR.
