TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance (TRSA) is putting a spotlight on Oklahoma’s trailblazing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educators, offering more than $30,000 in prizes and grants through the Siegfried Excellence in STEM Education Awards.
Applications and nominations are now open to recognize educators who are redefining what STEM learning looks like across the state.
Each finalist will receive a $4,000 grant, a $1,000 cash prize, two tickets to the prestigious Flight Night gala, and a personalized plaque. One educator will be named the “Siegfried STEM Educator of the Year,” earning an additional $4,000 grant and a $1,000 cash prize.
“These awards are designed to spotlight educators who are truly transforming STEM education in Oklahoma,” Dr. Emily Mortimer, vice president of STEM Ecosystems at TRSA, said in a statement. “We are looking for those who are integrating innovative strategies and creating impactful learning experiences for their students.”
Expanding opportunities for all STEM educators
The awards are open to Oklahoma-based educators with at least two years of experience, including:
- School-Based Educators and Administrators: Teachers and leaders employed by established schools or districts.
- Informal Educators: For the first time, TRSA is opening nominations to informal educators working in nonprofit organizations and other out-of-school settings that offer STEM programming for K-12 students.
The new category aims to recognize the critical work happening beyond traditional classrooms — a vital step in building a stronger, more inclusive STEM ecosystem across Oklahoma.
From the panhandle to the southeast, TRSA seeks to uplift educators creating transformative pathways for students—especially those historically underrepresented in STEM fields.
Building a future of confident, capable STEM leaders
Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance leads efforts to inspire and prepare all youth—particularly marginalized and underserved students—with the confidence, skills, and access needed to succeed in STEM fields.
By providing career awareness, mentorship from STEM role models who reflect the diversity of the communities they serve, and innovative learning opportunities, TRSA is working to build a future where every child can envision themselves thriving in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Applications and nominations for the Siegfried Excellence in STEM Education Awards are now open. Educators, administrators, nonprofits, and community members are encouraged to apply or nominate an outstanding STEM educator today.
