TULSA, Okla. Community organizers are turning intention into action with a free job fair designed to connect residents of historically Black North Tulsa with employers who are hiring.

Set for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 36th Street North Event Center, the North Tulsa Job Fair will bring together major employers, workforce agencies, and community resource organizations under one roof, with a goal of providing access.

According to the City of Tulsa’s Equality Indicators, unemployment has decreased substantially for Black residents since 2018, but disparities remain. Black residents are still 1.53 times more likely to be unemployed than white residents, according to the data.

Hosted by Northside Neighbors and Urban Strategies, Inc. (USI), the event was built for residents long overlooked by mainstream hiring pipelines.

About the organizers

North Tulsa has seen decades of disinvestment and systemic exclusion from economic opportunity — despite being home to one of the nation’s most resilient and historic Black communities. By hosting this job fair in the heart of the neighborhood, organizers are hoping to reverse a long history of community neglect.
