TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police’s Fugitive Warrants Unit arrested 21-year-old Darmontre Peters on July 2 in North Tulsa. Officers charged Peters with seven counts of Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Authorities believe Peters fired into a crowd during the Juneteenth celebration in the historic Greenwood District on Friday evening, June 21.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. during what began as a peaceful celebration. Surveillance video captured Peters with what police describe as an AR-style pistol. Investigators say the footage helped confirm his involvement.

Timeline of the Greenwood Tragedy

Last month, police arrested 19-year-old Timetrious Moore for second-degree murder in the death of Isaiah Knight, 22. Investigators say Moore fired the fatal shot that struck Knight. Several others were also hurt—some by gunfire, others trampled as the crowd fled in panic. Emergency responders took the injured to local hospitals.

The incident sparked widespread grief and renewed community demands for safety and accountability. Local leaders and activists immediately called for swift justice and increased support for violence prevention.
