Sgt. Marcus R. Harper, MCU III issued a statement to the community in regards to the incident that occurred between Dedlorn Sanders an off-duty Tulsa Police Officer (TPD) and Officer Heath Brownell an on-duty.


Officer Dedlorn Sanders Jr., 51, was accused of assault and battery against Officer Brownell, a white police officer while off duty.
Officer Sanders attempted to pick up his grandchildren during the dispute his daughter had with other family members. When Officer Sanders tried to take his grandchildren to remove them from the situation, Officer Brownell told him he could not, and a scuffle broke out between the officers.

Sources close to the family have reported that Officer Brownell grabbed off-duty Officer Sanders first.
Officer Sanders has served on the Tulsa Police Department for 20 yrs. and is well known in the Greenwood/North Tulsa community.
Officer Health Brownell became a police officer in 2016
Officer Sanders was arrested and released on bail for $5,000 and is in contact with representation.
