Tulsa, Okla. – LaPortia Burks is a younger sister, an African-American woman, who is serious about her business. Ms. Burks is the founder and CEO of the Shoe Pop Boutique, a popular online shoe store for women of every color. LaPortia told Sherika Stewart, the new host of “Black Coffee” set to debut next month via The Black Wall St. Times, that she always had dreams of opening an online shoe store. Her dreams of entrepreneurship came into fruition in 2007.
There’s brains behind LaPortia’s gorgeous million dollar smile and stilettos hills; she’s a graduate form our states renowned HBCU, Langston University, earning a degree in Health Science in 2014.
Her Beautiful blackness and brains not only magnifies that she has #BlackGirlMagic but that she embodies #BlackExcellence.
This past Friday, LaPortia held her first red carpet event at the AMC South Roads Theater. The theme “Girls Trip,” named after Black Hollywoods newest chick-flick, to coincides with her popup venders for her event Ladies Night Out, which SOLD OUT! Ladies Night Out featured some of Black Wall Street’s hottest boutiques – owned and operated by the community’s BBQ’s and were not talking about Barbecue honey; we’re referring to the Black Business Queens of Tulsa featuring popup shops that would spice the hell out of anyones relationship.
If things heated up too quickly, Andera Murrell has a solution that’s sure to cool things down – literally. Ms. Murrell owns and operates The Bra Bawse a luxury bra and lingerie boutique located in the High Plaza Shopping Center located across from Bishop Kelly High School. So when the summer stays hot, be sure to stop by her shop and buy a few things to keep you cool in the bedroom.
The evening also included a popup shop that would send any unwanted scrub packing out of your life. Damsel in Defense sells tools that look like toys but could put a n****a to sleep if he didn’t understand what you meant by no the first time. LaWanna Summers is the owner of the franchise of this genius idea. Ms. Summers’ store is also online.
LaPortia is planning for a bigger turnout next year. Notably, for this to be her first major vendor event, we were extremely impressed. So, kudos to LaPortia and Oklahoma’s beautiful queens of black business.
