UPDATE:

On Monday, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sent a message to would-be migrants, particularly Haitians, looking to enter the country seeking asylum at the southwest border: “People coming to the United States illegally will be returned, your journey will not succeed.”

Mayorkas denied that agents whipped anyone but said that officials would “investigate the facts.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki denounced the agent’s actions at a news conference in Washington D.C. on Monday saying: “I don’t think anyone seeing that footage would think it was acceptable or appropriate.”

Video was released on Monday showing mounted U.S. Border Patrol agents chasing and whipping Haitian migrants trying to cross the Rio Grande near Del Rio, Texas.

Border Patrol agents could be heard screaming: “Let’s go! Get out now! Go back to Mexico!”

Migrants seeking asylum

More than 10,000 migrants have been living under a bridge on the Mexico-Texas border, under increasingly squalid conditions. The migrants, mostly from Haiti, have crossed the Rio Grande and are desperate for help from the United States government.

The crisis at the border has become a full-blown humanitarian crisis with temperatures reaching near 100 degrees, infants being present, and still being in the midst of a global pandemic.

Said one man, Ramses Colon, who is seeking asylum from Cuba, “You stand there among thousands with your little ticket waiting for your turn.” The tickets include numbers for the refugees to be processed by U.S. Border Patrol.

“Human rights abuses”

According to Immigration and Human Rights lawyer Qasim Rashid, Esq., the correct way to legally seek asylum is to cross the border and ask for asylum. In a Tweet on Monday morning, he said blocking asylum seekers violates American law.

Progressive Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who once immigrated to the U.S. from Somalia, called the Border Patrol’s actions “human rights abuses.”

“Cruel, inhumane, and a violation of domestic and international law. This needs a course correction and the issuance of a clear directive on how to humanely process asylums seekers at our border,” Rep. Omar wrote in her retweet.

After assuming office, President Biden granted Temporary Protected Status to Haitians already living in the U.S. due to conditions in Haiti, including political unrest and natural disasters. However, the order does not apply to new arrivals to the United States. Many migrants have already been deported back to Haiti, angering advocates who believe that people are not being given a fair chance to obtain asylum.

The Biden administration is now planning to expel all Haitian migrants from their makeshift camp, in an effort to mitigate the growing humanitarian crisis at the border. The border has been closed to travelers, and all migrants will be tested for COVID-19 prior to being flown back to Haiti and other countries.

  1. You and the racist theblackwallsttimes.com should be ashamed this is pure RACIST anti American propaganda not once did a CBP officer hit ANY of those people with a whip this is a lie you should prosecuted to the fullest extent possible under US law. You are a lying un-American racist Scumbag fake journalist.

  2. Merry Thomas you are delusional and why do they even need a whip for? They are NOT cattle, they are PEOPLE. It looks like they are herding live stock not helping refugees seeking asylum which is NOT illegal. You should be placed in jail for thinking that any person trying to save their lives, should be treated this way.

    1. If anyone would take the time to look that is not a wipe in the in the Border Patrol Agent’s hand . Someone also stated on another page with this same picture that this is racist and that the White Man killed all the Indians and should not even be here . Has some actually ask the Cheyenne or Apache about the Buffalo Soldiers yes they were a part of the US Calvary a d fought in the American Indian wars . Also the Spanish and American wars . But their famous name Buffalo Soldiers came from the American Indians they slaughtered . If you don’t believe me just read .

    2. The swine are quite fortunate that they’re not dealing with a REAL country. By rights, we should have men with rifles at the border. A handful of .50 caliber eviscerations would settle this matter real quick. Luckily for the swine, our nation is ruled by people who hate their own country. Look at our vice president…she hasn’t spoken in months on this matter, and only suddenly finds her voice…when she sees an opportunity to attack OUR people. And Americans VOTED FOR THIS. Our country is a joke.

    3. Not one video or picture shows a whip. Those are the reigns that are used to guide the horses, and you can clearly see the agent whack the horse on the left side of it’s neck so it will quickly turn left. In the process of turning, the horse snaps it’s head to the left and knocks a person over. To the left from the rider’s POV, before you try to say some other ignorant thing.

Not a whip. Please y’all, go watch a rodeo or stand within 100 feet of a horse at some point In your life so you can see how horse riding works. Stop spreading stupidity.

  3. IT IS NOT A WHIP!! IT IS THE HORSE REIGNS. TRY ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE PHOTO
THE MEDIA IS AGAIN SPINNING THIS.

    1. This is a hoax story. Nobody was whipping anyone. They took still images that they could say were “whippings” and made a fake race bait story. The video of this same incident shows the agents warning the people away from horses for the safety of the agents as well as the illegal immigrants. Another Biden Whitehouse lie to create division in America.

    1. But…was he WRONG? Are you questioning his assessment? Because if you find such places so enchanting, I’m sure we could work out an exchange program…

    2. This article is nothing but lies. The border patrol agents are simply doing their job. Those Haitians are aliens and criminals who DO NOT BELONG HERE. This is not their country. This is our country.

  4. Pathetic. Get clicks for your fake media site by just making up false stories. Don’t check facts or ask someone who understands the difference between reins and whips. Don’t examine the evidence to find that no one was even struck by the reins. Just make it up! You must think your readers are sheep. They are not a stupid as you think.

    1. But here’s the real point…who cares? I think these vermin should be SHOT. THEY are the interlopers…THEY are the intruders…THEY are the filth. So why do they have any right to complain, if we DO whip them? Every second they are on this land, they are breaking our laws. They merit force…how much, is up to them…but we are well within our rights to slaughter these filth…I wish they’d go back to offering bounties for scalps…

  5. Yeah that’s not a whip… Stop lying and do a bit of research… That seems to be something you aren’t good at.. you wanna make stuff up… Go to Wikipedia…

  6. YOU ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT SAW RODNEY UNRESPONSIVE BEATEN 81 TIMES BY POLICE ON VIDEO AND COME UP WITH A NOT GUILTY VERDICT FOR THE OFFICERS INVOLVED. AS LONG AS IT IS PEOPLE OF COLOR BEATEN, WHIPPED, OR FALSELY ACCUSSED IT IS OKAY….

    1. Sorry, but they’re usually the ones who are dumb enough to fight or run…You’d think that, with all the time they spend navigating our legal system, they’d LEARN…Time to reinstate a bit of respect for authority…and you had better believe, that CAN be accomplished. And I mean, FAST…There’s a whole lot of people in this country who don’t know what real brutality looks like. Perhaps it’s time for a reminder….

  7. By the way, never did catch those GRAPHIC IMAGES we were warned about…just a few shot of various animals being herded in the right direction…

  8. Real slavery still exists in Haiti. Google Operation Underground Railroad. I’m not surprised these people left. But if you’ve ever ridden a horse, you’d understand the misleading headline. Those are reigns being used to control the horse.

    1. They were warning the people away form the horse to keep them from getting trampled or kicked or even from getting the agents themselves from being thrown. The media and Biden White House made up a fake race story and Liberal idiots have run with it without checking it and some deliberately continue it because of the political mileage they get. They even referred to the Hispanic Agents on horseback as “white-presenting” to be able to force the fake race issue. The DHS secretary talked about what this situation “conjured up”. Well how about what the situation actually was?—NOTHING. This is a perfect example of fake news. Take an innocent image and create a fake narrative to cause trouble.

  9. To me, it sounds and looks hellish, and it’s coming from a supposedly-Christian nation. I’ve been reading so many incoherently ugly posts on numerous mainstream news websites, including the otherwise progressive Huffington Post, in regards to these apparently very desperate human beings; perhaps desperate enough to work hard for basic food and shelter. It’s as though they are perceived as being disposable human life. … Many migrants from the southern hemisphere are climate-change refugees, fleeing from climactic changes thus chronic crop failure mostly caused by the North’s chronic fossil-fuel burning, starting with the Industrial Revolution. …

Furthermore, I’ve noticed over decades the exceptionally strong work ethic practiced by migrants, especially in the produce harvesting sector. It is typically hump-busting work that almost all post-second-generation Westerners won’t tolerate for themselves. Here in southwestern B.C., every time I observe such workers in the fields (while driving by on a bus), I feel a bit guilty; for, considering it purely on a moral/human(e) level, I see not why they should have to toil so for minimal pay and not also I.

Such laborers work very hard and should be treated humanely, including regular access to Covid-19 vaccination and proper workplace protection, but often are not. While I don’t favor Canada-based businesses exporting labor abroad at very low wages if there are unemployed Canadians who want that work, I can imagine such laborers being much more productive than their born-and-reared-here Canadian counterparts.

I’m not saying that a strong work ethic is a trait racially/genetically inherited by one generation from a preceding generation. Rather, I believe, it is an admirable culturally determined factor, though also in large part motivated by the said culture’s internal and surrounding economic and political conditions.
