Herschel Walker plants lies while attacking Biden for planting trees

Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee for a Senate seat in Georgia, attacked a new law aimed in part at fighting climate change, arguing it will waste money on trees.

““In the bill—have you seen anything that is going to fix anything?…think about this: 87,000 IRS agents…You could fill the entire UGA stadium with those agents. Why aren’t we using those people to work at the border? Why are we not protecting our schools? Why are we not putting money into our law enforcement?… They continue to try to fool you like they’re helping you out, but they’re not,” Walker said Sunday at a Republican Jewish Coalition event in Sandy Springs, near Atlanta, days after President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law.

Walker continued,”Because a lot of the money is going into trees. You know that, don’t you? It’s going into trees. We’ve got enough trees. Don’t we have enough trees around here?”

Walker’s remarks in response to a question about the measure were first reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Like the Africa proverb states, “a tree is known by its fruits.” And Walker’s fruits have been closely examined throughout his Trump-endorsed campaign against incumbent GA Senator Raphael Warnock. Since entering the political sphere, the controversial Walker has ducked a debate, echoed 2020 election mistruths, lied about the number of children he’s fathered and grades earned in college, all while proving himself to be ill-informed on many of the policies he’d be responsible for – if elected.

As trees grow, they help stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. Trees provide many benefits to us, every day. They offer cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion and clean our water. Through the natural process of photosynthesis, trees absorb CO2 and other pollutant particulates, then store the carbon and emit pure oxygen.

Beyond being good for the planet, trees are also good for our mental health. A study by a TNC scientist found that time in nature—like a walk among the trees in a city park—correlates with a drop in anxiety and depression.

According to the Nature Conservatory, tree’s leaves also filter dangerous pollution. More trees in cities, especially in lower-income neighborhoods close to highways and factories, can aid in reducing ailments like asthma and heart disease.

In 1937, the official State Tree of Georgia was designated as the live oak (Quercus virginiana).

Yet, despite these and plenty more easily discoverable facts about trees, Walker remains defiantly adamant on Twitter.

The bill President Biden signed will raise about $700 billion through corporate tax increases and prescription drug savings and spend about $400 billion on clean energy and health care provisions. The new law also provides $1.5 billion in grants to state agencies and nonprofit organizations “for tree planting and related activities,” according to the bill’s text.

Herschel Walker continues to prove ignorance is bliss in today’s GOP

Though he’s lost support by many Black Georgia voters, according to Five Thirty Eight, Walker trails Warnock but only by a couple percentage points.

By aligning himself with former Pres. Trump, Walker has seamlessly continued to dispel lies on podiums near and far. The candidate lies “like he’s breathing,” one of his advisers told the Daily Beast, saying aides long ago stopped believing anything he says. “He’s lied so much that we don’t know what’s true,” the person added, noting that advisers have “zero” trust in him. Three people all independently dubbed Walker a “pathological liar.”

The Black Wall Street Times reached out to the Herschel Walker campaign for additional comment. His communications director Will Kiley responded, “Herschel was commenting on how Raphael Warnock and Joe Biden continue to spend billions of taxpayer dollars, in a recession, on programs that do absolutely nothing to combat inflation and provide relief to hard-working Georgians.”
