TULSA, Okla. — A group of compassionate teachers, concerned over the humanitarian crisis growing at the Mexico–United States border, made the charitable decision to gather toothbrushes, soaps, diapers, and blankets for the children of immigrants and their families.

“To say that you hold an implicit bias is not saying that you’re a racist. But, I wonder if the lack of urgency and TPD’s absence in these discussions or even Jordan’s failure to admit that race is a factor here — maybe stems from a fear of being called a racist?” Imlay said.
Fields spoke of her career trajectory, noting that her time as a guest columnist for the Oklahoma Eagle is what encouraged her to pursue journalism as a career. Her column “Scoopin’ the Scoop” showed her that she had a story and people wanted to hear it.
